Federal Work Study Job – Office Assistant

Starting Date: Fall 2023, with some hours during this April and May for training  

Total Hours: This position will require 10-12 hours of work per week in the Gonzaga outdoors office. 

Summary: Gonzaga Outdoors is looking to hire an individual to assist with office management. This position involves being present at the front desk in the office answering questions and phone calls, renting and returning gear, cashiering retail items, as well as performing general office tasks. Additionally, Office Assistants help with the preparation and programming of outgoing trips. 

Hours:  This position is a Federal Work Study Position (applicant MUST qualify for Federal Work Study) that will require approx. 10-12 hours of work each week. If you are unsure of your Work Study status, contact financial aid before submitting this application.

Events Coordinator

Starting Date: Fall 2023 with some training this April and May  

Total Hours: This position will require 8 – 10 hours of work per week. 

Summary: 

The Events Coordinator is responsible for creating engaging opportunities for students to engage with GU Outdoors on campus. This includes hosting various movies, speakers, service opportunities, and skill clinics. A large part of the job is planning Adventure Week in the fall and Week of Adventure in the spring. This position involves effectively communicating with event sponsors (Matchstick, TGR, SheJumps etc.), managing ticket sales, reserving locations, and advertising. The Events Coordinator will work closely with the Marketing and Communications Coordinator and the Director of Outdoor Programs.

Bike Shop Technician

Starting Date: Fall 2023 

Summary: Bike Shop Technicians will be primarily responsible for performing bike maintenance and repairs, snowboard tune up and waxing, and general maintenance of rental fleet. This position is also responsible for maintaining a clean and safe work environment in the bike shop. A shop tech will have consistent interaction with customers, process transactions through CashNet, and maintain clear lines of communication with other shop employees. This position is for 8-10 hours per week. No bike or ski technician experience is required – we provide training on basic repairs and tuning.

Gonzaga Out of Bounds Coordinator

Starting Date: Spring/Summer 2023 

Summary: 

Gonzaga Outdoors is accepting applications for the Gonzaga Out-of-Bounds Coordinator. The position will require the individual to work with the Gonzaga Outdoors Team to plan and execute the logistical elements of Gonzaga Out-of-Bounds (GOOB). This includes planning itineraries, managing human resources, participant communication, coordinating with vendors, coordinating the registration process and other tasks. This position works closely with several other student staff members and the Assistant Director of Outdoor Programs. This position will work for several weeks before the conclusion of the Spring 2023 semester to facilitate GOOB registration and carry through the summer of 2023 through GOOB in August.  

Hours: 

This position requires 8-12 hours per week. Certain weeks will require increased hours. The week before and the week of GOOB (August 15th to the 25th) will be full-time and off-site.
