Harvest Moon Hike
September 24th
 
Take a break after classes on Monday and come enjoy the Harvest Moon. We will be headed out to Big Rock Monday night to hike while we watch the sun set and the full moon rise. The Rocks of Sharon are an awesome spot to perch on some rocks and take in the stars and the moon. This hike will be a short 2 mile total trail with moderate elevation gain, great for all levels of experience. All are welcome to come join the full moon hike for a break from school, and some incredible views, with a chance of potatoes.

Liberty Lake Trail Run

Let’s run! Get off campus and hit the trails Tuesday in Liberty Lake Regional Park. All skill levels, speeds, shoe colors, and hair styles are welcome with beginner and intermediate options. We will be departing campus at 4:00pm and returning in time to refuel at dinner!

Friday Climbing

Ready for a little Fall cragging? Join us at 3:00 p.m. for some toprope climbing at a local Spokane climbing crag! No experience is required. We have the capacity to set up climbs 5.3 to 5.13, and provide a great introduction to climbing in the area, or even just climbing in general! We will try to be back to campus between 6:30 and 7:00 p.m. See you there!

Scotchman’s Peak Hike
September 29th
 
 
Calling all hikers!! Come out and explore the treasures of Northern Idaho (aka the home of the potato!!!) in the Kaniksu National Forest. We will be hiking Scotchman’s peak on Saturday, September 29. It is a moderate 7.6 miles, but it will take up most of the day. We will leave campus early in the morning and be back in the late afternoon. Gear up for an awesome, challenging, and beautiful hike! Beehive Backpack
September 29th-30th
 
Want to get away from campus for a weekend? Join us on a backpacking trip to Beehive Lake in Idaho, an alpine lake with lots of wildflowers and wildlife! We’ll be leaving on Saturday morning at 7 am and coming back to campus on Sunday mid-day. This intermediate hike will be 9 miles round trip with an elevation gain of 2000 feet. No experience is required!

Stanley Hot Springs Backpack
September 29th-30th
 
Come join us for a fall backpacking trip to Stanley Hot Springs! This trip will take you to the beautiful Selway-Bitterroot wilderness near Lewiston, ID. We will be hiking about 6 miles in on Saturday and will camp there Saturday night- with plenty of time to enjoy the hot springs. We will head out on Sunday morning and should have you back to campus in the afternoon! No expierience is required, just an appreciation for relaxing in naturally heated pools!

Priest Lake Inflatable Kayak
September 29th-30th
 
Ever camped on an island? Ever paddled an inflatable kayak? Well, now you can do both in one weekend! Join us for an overnight camping trip at Priest Lake in Idaho, done entirely in IKs. We will leave campus Saturday morning, paddle out to Kalispell Island and explore the shores of the lake in our inflatable kayaks. We’ll sleep under the stars before kayaking back to the mainland and arriving back to campus Sunday afternoon. No experience necessary, and we’ll provide all the gear you’ll need to have the best paddling adventure!

Riverfront Park Trail Run
September 18th
 
Take a break from your homework and come run with us! Lace up your shoes on Thursday for trail running on Riverfront State Park’s Trail 25. All skill levels are welcome with beginner and intermediate options. We will be departing campus at 3:15pm and returning in time to refuel at dinner!

Chimney Rock Backpack
September 22nd-23rd
 
Join us for an incredible backpacking adventure at Chimney Rock, one of the most striking features in the Selkirk Mountains! This is a moderately-difficult, 10 mile round-trip hike. We will leave campus Saturday morning, hike through the forest out toward Chimney Rock, spend the night, and come back to campus Sunday evening. It’s an awesome way to kick some dust off your hiking boots and enjoy the beautiful September sunshine!

Scotchman’s Peak Hike
September 22nd
 
Come hike with us at Scotchman’s Peak on Saturday Sep. 22nd! We’ll be hiking 7.6 miles (3700 ft elv. gain) to the top of Scotchman’s Peak where we’ll munch on some good grub, enjoy the views of Lake Pend Oreille, and hopefully see some mountain goats! We will leave campus early morning and come back late afternoon. This is a moderate hike, no experience required!

Steven’s Lake Hike

Looking for a fun activity on your second holiday this fall? Come hike to Steven’s Lake! We will be doing a hike from the Steven’s lake trailhead up to the lake, and possibly up to Steven’s peak depending on the time. We will be leaving campus Tuesday, September 11th, at 8 am and returning around 6 pm. The actual hiking difficulty will be moderate; we will be both on and off trail, doing about 8 miles round trip with 3000’ of elevation gain.

Kit Carson Hike

Welcome back to school Zags! Did someone say summit TWO mountains in one day?? We did! Join us for an adventure to Mount Kit Carson and Mount Spokane, let’s enjoy this Tuesday off (Mass of the Holy Spirit) out in God’s country! This is a moderate to intermediate level hike that requires you to roll out of bed a little earlier than normal. It’s going to be a blast, it’s going to be brawny, it’s going to be beautiful. See ya there!

Inflatable Kayak Trip
September 14th and/or 16th
 
Both of these trips are beginner friendly but some kayaking experience is helpful. We will be exploring the Spokane river’s Class II section right here in town just below the falls. We’ll be paddling from Peaceful Valley to TJ Menach Bridge. All the technical Kayaking gear will be provided including kayak and paddle, helmet, life-jacket, and wetsuit. Come check out this fun and pretty river right in our own backyard.

Lake Ingals Backpacking

Come join us backpacking and get away from campus for the weekend as we explore Lake Ingalls in the beautiful Cascades! Let’s enjoy the good weather as we search for Mountain Goats and spend time next to a beautiful alpine lake. We will leave campus Friday evening and return Sunday afternoon. All skill and experience levels are welcome.

We will be doing some outdoor rock climbing at various local climbing areas throughout the fall until it gets too cold or too wet to go. Please meet in the Gonzaga Outdoors office, located in the lower level of the Hemmingson Center, between 3 and 3:30, where we will leave from promptly at 3:30. We have all the equipment needed, so no worries there. All experience levels welcome!

Already need a break from school? Come join Gonzaga Outdoors in scenic Montana for an AWESOME day of WHITEWATER RAFTING! The weekend of September 8 and 9, Gonzaga Outdoors will be traveling to Montana for some overnight camping and rafting on the Clark Fork River! 🙂 Sign up and join us for some fun!

 

 
 
Priest Lake IK
September 8th-9th
 
Come check out the jewel of North Idaho, Priest Lake! We’ll do a short Kayak paddle out to Kalispell in the middle of the lake where we’ll camp, hike, and hang out together. This is a beginner friendly trip. You’ll need layers and clothes for around camp and some basic items like a mess kit, but all the technical paddling equipment including boats, wetsuits, life jackets, etc. will be provided. 

 

 
 
Horseback Riding
September 11th
 
Hey cowgirls and cowboys! Grab your boots and strap on those chaps and join us for a mid-day trail ride in Northern Idaho! We will be taking an hour long ride through the beautiful scenery of Hayden, Idaho and be back on campus by mid afternoon! Any horse experience is welcome. See you out there!
